AUSTRALIAN GUNNERS IN ACTION

A Troop Command Post
in the Western Desert. Gunner Simpson, of Adelaide, mans a D5
telephone, July 29th, 1942.

NEW GUINEA - Australian
25-pdrs were carried by air to Wau,
while the Japs were still within close range of the airfield. The guns were
assembled immediately and helped to beat off counterattacks. The subsequent
fighting on precipitous wooded mountainsides much resembled the operations
in the Shan States in Burma.

Australian Gunners back in
the Desert again move up to the forward area with their new 'portee'
equipment, July 13th, 1942.
