Gun Number
The Gun Number (Artillery) soldier is part
of the Royal Regiment of Australian Artillery (RAA), which provides
firepower on the battlefield.
A Gun Number is a soldier who operates the guns of field and medium
artillery units.
Duties
·
Assists in bringing the gun into and out of action.
·
Assists in the preparation and storage of ammunition.
·
Loads the gun.
·
Fires the gun.
·
Applies data to the sighting systems to direct the gun at the target.
·
Assists in gun servicing and maintenance.
·
Assists in the preparation of the gun for movement by land, sea and air.
·
Assists in the local defence.
·
Carries out the duties of a
signaller in Command posts and Joint offensive support teams.
